Kennebunk’s first single family affordable workforce home
Early in 2007, Hissong Development was awarded a town-approved bid to purchase the former Currier property at 31 Ross Road from the Town of Kennebunk.
Hissong Development built a three bedroom, 1,280 square foot Cape Cod style house at the property, with the express purpose of offering a much needed affordable housing unit in Kennebunk.

A lottery drawing of qualified applicants determined who would be chosen to purchase the home, which was awarded on August 31st. The proud owners moved into their new home after a ribbon cutting ceremony on September 28, 2007.

The home sold for $160,000. In accordance with covenants developed by the Town of Kennebunk and its Workforce Housing Committee, the home and property will remain in perpetuity as an affordable home for Kennebunk families. The selling price cannot exceed the original purchase price adjusted by the Consumer Price Index.
